Heartthrob or Icon?
Ethan Peck’s Logical and Relevant Interpretation of Spock…
Ethan Peck’s performance helps us understand how Spock became the Spock with all the feels.
His version in Strange New Worlds is relatable and honestly just makes me want more Spock, which of course makes me watch more Star Trek.
Playing Spock is one of the hardest roles in sci-fi. You’re stepping into a character everyone already has strong opinions about.
Do too much and people say you’re copying.
Do too little and people say…he sucks.

What works isn’t just the look (yes, he’s easy on the eyes). It’s that he doesn’t play logic like it’s his personality. He plays it like work. Like something Spock has to actively choose and maintain—especially when everything around him is emotional chaos.
This Spock isn’t smug. He is charming, uncomfortable, and sometimes clearly struggling to keep himself in check. And honestly? That makes him feel more Spock than some versions that seemed a little too confident in their logic.
In a time when most characters are driven by big feelings and bigger reactions, watching someone choose restraint feels…very refreshing. Peck’s Spock reminds us that logic isn’t about being cold—it’s about discipline…and discipline is hard work (which does not come naturally…to me anyway lol)
And the best part? He’s not doing a Leonard Nimoy impression. He’s showing us how Spock becomes the icon we already know and love.
I’m curious what you all think
- Is Ethan Peck’s Spock more logical—or more emotional?
- Where does he rank for you compared to Nimoy or Quinto?
PS: Fun fact—Ethan Peck is what Gen Z calls a “nepo baby” (yes, I had to Google that term too 😂). He’s the grandson of legendary actor Gregory Peck
